 The History of Marant

Isabel Marant is a French fashion designer, known for her bohemian aesthetic and bold creations. However, fashion was not always on her life path. Marant, from a young age, had always wanted to be a veterinarian. She always displayed ‘tom-boy’ qualities in her younger years, refusing to wear dresses and always having an alternative change of clothes for school. By the age of 14, she had begun to wear men's clothing. After her father had purchased a sewing machine for her, she decided to start producing clothing garments out of old fabrics and ended up creating pieces for her friends to wear. 

When Marant proceeded to study fashion, the director of the institute told her something that stuck with her. The expression was “You shouldn't want others to wear things that you won't wear yourself." Marant’s collections, filled with straight-leg trousers, unstructured shirts and tailored jackets, often with embellishment, represents her style. 

She embodies a casual and interesting, yet never over-thought look. Isabel Marant is worn by some of the world's top trendsetters such as Kate Moss and  Sienna Miller.
