Calvin Klein Sunglasses - US style and Design

The Calvin Klein Sunglasses collection continues this strong correlation between shape and colour with both their men and womens opticals. The eyewear collection also takes inspiration from the brands strong historical American roots which it continues to propel forward targeting the modern provocateur.

Calvin Klein's most notable sunglasses style is the square frame shape. Their sunglasses are more on the simplistic side in comparrison to other retailers in the luxury eyewear market. This makes CK's eyewear a staple wardrobe piece that are perfect for everyday wear. Although most colourways in their eyewear collection stray towards the netural side, dominating colours being black, browns, and a clear frame lense, they also feature more colourful styles too.

Calvin Klein Sunglasses & The History

Calvin Klein was born in 1942, in the Bronx, New York. He studied fashion in New York City and apprenticed for a suit manufacturer. In 1968, he and Barry Schwartz opened their own company, with Schwartz running the business side of things and Klein responsible for design and artistic vision. This vision focused on classic silhouettes due to his experience in suit making which he married with distinctive colour palettes.

Klein removed himself as the creative director of the brand in 2003. He appointed Francisco Costa, a Brazillian designer to fill his position. Costa focused predominately on the muted palletes and the minimilistic 'Made in America' image of the brand. This allowed the brand name to excel. Sillhouttes are also a huge focus of Calvin Klein, and have been since the 1990s. Making sense considering that the brand dominate in the underwear industry. CK changed the markets perception of mens underwear. They essentially took the garnment from an item one would pick up when needed as a necessity, to an item that one would take pride in. They revolutionised mens underwear, influencing males to care about the brand name on an item that only a few people would see them wearing.
