It is renowned for being one of the hardest clubs within the industry to get into. It is not who you know, but what you know that will get you in. That's why we were THRILLED to hear the news that the CFDA
(Council of Fashion Designers of America to you and me) invited our beloved L.A. Eyeworks to join a glitterati of designers along with 28 others. Pret investigates...
So what is the CFDA I hear you ask? In addition to hosting their annual CFDA Fashion Awards (best red carpet, ever) the CFDA are a non profit organisation which is committed to helping future of American design, not to mention provide support for established designers. Headed by our Lady Diane Von Frustenburg and counting the likes of eyewear lovers Tom Ford, Ralph Lauren and Marc Jacobs amongst its members, it is safe to say there is never a lack of creativity going round.
With 30 lucky new members being added to the already glittering list, we were delighted to see that the CFDA included two of our favourite eyewear designers; Gai Gherardi and BFF Barbara McReynolds
to the covetable shortlist. The new members will be welcomed into the CDFA fashion fold in by an exclusive party hosted by American design legend Kenneth Cole this Autumn, is our invite in the mail guys?
ÛÏEverything happens behind your glasses,Û Gai Gherardi says with a grin. ÛÏIt's such an honor to make something, design something that a life is going to happen behind.Û
It is quotes like this that reinforces why both Gai and Barabra deserve their place within the CDFA. Their passion for eyewear and creativity knows no limits, making them the perfect candidates to support the florishing American design industry.
Rihanna made a splash at this years CFDA Awards in that see through dress
With Rihanna making this years CFDA Awards one of the most covered Ceremonies of 2014, we were so happy to see the addition of the first ever Fashion Instagrammer of the Year prize. The Award everyone is dying to double tap was awarded in true social media style, by the followers. We strongly suggest you get following this years winner @aguynamedpatrick, a follow you will NOT regret! What can we say? Those Fashinista's must love (pictures) of Burgers and Chips, not technically fashion per se, but a foodie post always goes down well in our books. Always.
Miss our interview with Gai Gherardi at MIDO this year? Check it out here.
