Polaroid Sunglasses

The founder of Polaroid eyewear, Edwin Land, was born in 1909 in Connecticut. He invented Polaroid as the world's first polarizing material for commercial use in 1929. This led him to establishing the Polaroid Corporation in 1937 in Cambridge, Massachusetts where he initially produced  the first sunglasses with a polarizing filter known as ‘Polaroid Day sunglasses’. In 1935 Edwin Land negotiated with American Optical Company to produce polarized sunglasses with the purpose of filtering out glare rather than simply darkening the landscape. From here, Polaroid began the manufacturing of polarizing sheets for windows in railroad observation cars in order to protect the vision of both drivers and passengers. Polaroid were always a brand at the forefront of visionary development and their team or engineers and craftsmen produced a number of products for the Armed Forces including a device that determined an aircraft's elevation above the horizon, an infrared night viewing device, goggles, lenses, color filters for periscopes, and a wide range finders.

Polaroid Eyewear continues to be a worldwide leader in optics and pioneering invention. Today, Polaroid produces and distributes its polarized sunglasses, clip-ons, suncovers™ and optical frames all to the highest standard. Each pair of Polaroid sunglasses is designed with the objective of protecting your eyes when light reflects from horizontal shiny surfaces. Polaroid lenses reduce glare ensuring optimal comfort and enhanced definition and contrast. Polaroid sunglasses guarantee the highest eye protection and instantly improved color perception which means you can enjoy optimal clearer and truer vision.
