Prada Sunglasses

Prada sunglasses epitomise these same values laid out by Miuccia Prada. The brand was founded in 1913 by Mario and Martino Prada. The brothers focused on leather goods under the name ‘Fratelli Prada’ in Milan’s prestigious Galleria Vittorio Emmanuele II. Concentrating on handbags, trunks, accessories and jewellery, Prada was quickly recognised for its innovative designs. Applying sophisticated techniques to fine materials was their forte. This superb attention-to-detail transported Prada to the forefront of aristocracy.

With the most stylish members of the Haute-bourgeoisie in Europe carrying their designs. In 1919, Prada became the official supplier of the Italian Royal Family. Since then, Prada has been able to display the House of Savoy coat of arms and knotted rope design in its trademark logo

Prada Sunglasses - The History Behind the Brand

Mario Prada did not believe that women should have a role in business. He prevented female family members from entering the company. However, Mario's son had no interest in the business. So Mario's daughter, Luisa Prada, took over Prada as his successor. She ran it for almost twenty years before her daughter Miuccia Prada joined the company in 1970. In 1978, Miuccia Prada married Tuscan entrepreneur, Patrizio Bertelli, and together their combined creativity and business-savvy empowered the pair to prosper within the luxury goods and sunglasses sector.

Today, the duo are still at the helm of the Prada family business and they continue to work innovatively to create sharp yet unconventional looks that are cutting-edge in style and combine intellectual concepts, structures and imagery pertaining to the world today.

Each pair of Prada Sunglasses frames hold its own unique style with a nod to high-society luxury. With instantly recognisable artistic designs, Prada eyewear comprises bold styling, modern shapes and classic colours combined through undeniable quality. Prada opticals excel with sophisticated craftsmanship through its use of cellulose acetate which is one of the highest-quality acetates on the market. Through the brand’s use of coloured, shiny and sometimes eccentric patterns Prada offers an extremely modern vision of high fashion.
